Web 2.0*
We define web 2.0 by three layers:
The first level is that it uses Rich Internet Applications like Ajax, Open Laszlo, Flash, Silver light, etc. This is important because the traditional browser metaphor is gone. Our RIA lab is on the forefront of these technologies and is actively developing new and exciting user interfaces as well as specialized ones for the mobile web 2.0 space.
Secondly, it uses some kind of Service Oriented Architecture like feeds, RSS, web services or mashups through toolkits like OpenLaszlo, IBM QED and WSO2. SOA is used to expose services for other applications in order to create completely new services like a mashup. As an example, with one of our clients we have built a widget framework to display KPI data and have deployed them using RSS.
The third factor is that the social web contains user generated content. Photon has built widgets for social networks like facebook and other user generated content management systems to manage things like user video editing, wikis, and blogs.
Web 2.0 is considered by many as another web trend but we believe that there is a way to cut through the buzz and actually use it to solve real business problems and Photon has the experience to help you do it.
Mobile Application Development*
According to IDC, 70 per cent of mobile devices will be smart phones by 2010. Today a lot of our clients use mobile as their only deployment platform. Mobile application development requires special skills and experience since it is very different than traditional, matured application development. Things like battery life, restricted screen size, network speed etc are some of the things that you have to consider while developing a mobile application. Photon developed their first web application with WAP in 1999 and has been involved in this field since then through the last year’s rapid development.

There is no discussion that open source products are now ready for total enterprise deployment. Today for every off the shelf software product, a mature open source alternative exist. Large Fixed Bid Projects - 30% as Initiation advance,30% after completion of Design Phase,20% after completion of development phase and 20% on final delivery.

I can depend on their estimates to be accurate within a small margin - and they tell me up front what that margin will be. I have never been surprised by the number of hours that a project has taken due to poor planning or estimating.
