With over 17 years of programming experience, and over 5 years of employment as a database administrator, I have a wide range of experience in many different tools and environments. I left formal employment to be at home with my children, and have been volunteering my free time since to do website and other work for a small non-profit organization.
My formal training as a physicist (Ph.D. 1997) honed my ability to problem-solve, manage and complete large tasks, work independently and in groups, and ensure thoroughness and accuracy in my work.

Payment Terms
I prefer to use escrow services, though I may consider other arrangements in special cases. I do most of my work between 9pm and midnight Eastern time and on weekends, but can be available during the business day for the occasional phone call as needed. I attempt to turn projects around as quickly as possible, though that varies project-to-project. I am always glad to provide an estimate on the turnaround for individual projects.

I also have an extensive background in numerical manipulation, statistics, and scientific research.
My areas of greatest expertise are 1) writing useful SQL statements, including complicated joins, and 2) writing Unix shell scripts to manage database administration tasks such as backups and error detection/correction. I am very familiar with database adminstration of Sybase and DB2, and somewhat familiar with Oracle. I have coded webpages with PHP and Cold Fusion to interact with MySQL and DB2 databases (respectively). The cosmetic aspects of webpage design are not my forte, but I can code the functionality behind the pages.
