Payment Terms
Payment is usually per job, negotiated before the project. Depending on expenses involved, sometimes a percentage in advance. Usually invoiced on completion and payment within 30 days.
Detailed Service Description
The main areas of expertise are writing, photography, design and videography.
Writing means just about any writing. I have written a full length fantasy novel from a brief outline, have written video scripts, ads for major companies, many articles (editorial and PR material), investigative journalism, textbooks, memoirs, ghost written autobiographies, web content. Sidelines here are branding, company and product names, logos, tag lines, slogans, jingles and I even wrote a play for Xerox in the UK to communicate a new concept to its staff.
Photography. Mostly location. People are my favorite subject but I will also do commercial photography, stock photography, architectural, garden, horticultural and just about anything. I won't do weddings! I shoot digital with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II (23 Megapixels) and do my own Photoshop work. I am very familiar with the digital processing end of things.
Design. I have designed brochures, stationery, full length books, posters, ads, newsletters. I am not a design genius but I can put the writing, photography and design together to create real communication.
Video. This is something I have taken to only in the last couple of years. I shoot HD with a Canon XH A1, two cameras, lavalier or boom mics. I do my own editing using Final Cut Studio. I also will produce a whole video from concept to scripting, shooting, editing, sound and final output. This includes DVD authoring.
I do well when I have a client who wants a combination of the above skills and wants to be able to go to one person for many different communication media. It takes time for someone to get up to speed on a company and if the time spend briefing one person on a subject can result in a variety of products, then that time is well spent. Also if location work is involved, it is economically efficient to send one person to a site to gather the material for the story, shoot the stills and the video.
