Summary

Diesel Advertising and Design aim to provide premium design and advertising solutions for our clients globally through the virtual realm of the internet. Our tagline is Hi-Octane Creativity, Hard-Working Solutions, Engineering Brands.

We had humble beginnings in 1996, when as a two-man show, we picked up a South African based cellular network - MTN. Coming from an extensive below-the-line background, we initially had limited cellular-related above-the-line experience, yet we thrived!

We proceeded to cut our teeth on some of the world's top FMCG brands. Diesel has a cumulative experience of over thirty years of brand advertising and design.

As brand designers we are both proficient in creating website designs as well as doing the actual HTML and CCS components required for the actual website.

About Us

Profile Type: Business
Year Founded: 1996
Number of Employees: 9 or fewer
We are a professional SMME team who are multi-disciplinary in our approach to projects. We strive to be as original as possible. We believe that all clients deserve an original. Anything less should be seen as an affront, as an insult to the clients intelligence. English is our first and only language.

::: Brian has brought over twenty-three years of experience to Diesel with the aim of building brands with a highly energized creative content based on sound marketing principles. Brian says "I like what Oscar Wilde said about the imagination, he said 'The imagination imitates. It is the critical spirit that creates." As Creative Director Brian brings a critical eye, a discernment in sharpening the teams talents to a razor sharp edge.

::: Tami has brought over eighteen years of experience to Diesel, gaining experience as diverse as packaging design through to above-the-line and beyond to branding and design. Tami says "I like what Steve Jobs said about design, he said 'Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." Tami sees 'how design works' as the natural outcome in terms of the achieving the clients' brand objectives.

We both agree that "It is the function of creatives to perceive the relations between thoughts, or things, or forms of expression that may seem utterly different, and to be able to combine them into some new forms - the power to connect the seemingly unconnected." It is what makes great advertising and design. We don't work in isolation, a great design or a good ad is an interaction between the client and the designer. The client knows there product better than we ever will and we know our craft better than they ever will.

A final quote which provides perspective on the Diesel philosophy - and it emanates from a most unusual source, Dreamworks' Po the Panda states that "There is no charge for awesomeness."

Payment Terms

Diesel's office hours are EST.

A kill Fee (Rejection fee) is 25% of the project fee. Copyright belongs to client after full and final payment allowing for portfolio usage (unless otherwise stipulated by client).

Diesel's bids are fixed bid amounts and not cost estimates and therefore will NOT increase (unless the client adds an item to the brief, in which case we will adjust the costs appropriately).

- 50% deposit on award of contract
- 50% on project completion and once final payment is made, Diesel will email all files in the required formats through the workspace facility, depending on the file size.

- 25% deposit on award of contract

- 25% on approval of final designs and/or remaining work
- 25% on project completion - NB once final payment is made Diesel will email all files in the required formats through the workspace facility, depending on the file size.

E&OE. While Diesel will do their utmost to proof-check projects, clients are ultimately responsible for proof-checking (especially names, street addresses and telephone numbers).

Detailed Service Description

There is an old adage that goes something like this - It states that designers come in three varieties 'fast designers,' 'cheap designers' and 'good designers.' it is especially true in times of recession when the first thing that is cut is the advertising and design budget. Any designer that tells you that they can do the project 'fast, good and cheap' are going to compromise on one or two of the of the above aspects. Some fail to deliver the quality, others fail to deliver on schedule and lastly there are those who are expensive [they came in low and add hidden costs along the way]. In every one of these scenarios the designer fails to deliver on the clients expectations and on design excellence. These designers will impact on your brand in a negative way.

Ask yourself "should I get the same attention to branding than clients who pay fair-market value for these services get?" Since most designers attach no value to design and churn out voluminous amounts from logo design annuals and web design templates sites without understanding the strategy and branding principles involved in design excellence. Nor do they care about the fact that design excellence must stem from knowledge, which without, a designer can never relate to the consumer.

While our ideas are vital to the success of Diesel, it is our people that are most important to Diesel's success. We put everything into developing successful brands, brands that connect on an emotional level which stay relevant over time by remaining true to values that actually mean something, continually refreshing the way these values are expressed. Unless we are able to sustain ourselves in the long term, constantly pushing the boundaries, we will, at the end of the day run the risk of burnout or worse, financial implosion due to the transient nature of advertising and design.
