I am a native spanish speaker (EUROPEAN). 11 years English to Spanish and Spanish to English translation experience. Associate member of ATA and its Spanish Language Division. I work with Translation Agencies and private clients.
It's wrong to think that just because you know how to speak a language you can be a translator. One has to have a deep knowledge and understanding of the culture that surrounds both languages.
Ingenuity does not mean ingenuidad in Spanish, it means ingenio. The incorrect translation of just a single word can change completely the meaning of your message. The incorrect translation of a digit can ruin a financial statement.
