Sr. QA Manager/QA Director
Elance is currently looking for a smart, energetic and experienced SaaS QA Sr. Manager / Director to help us substantially improve our development lifecycle. In this role, you will grow and manage a distributed QA team, will contribute to refine the development cycle process to increase quality and predictability, and will personally drive process innovation to deliver faster and better releases. This is a full-time position at Elance headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities
- Own the quality of Elance products: website SaaS solution, API platform and client application.
- Ensure the quality of new feature releases while verifying no regressions have been introduced.
- Hire, retain, and inspire the world’s best QA engineers. Actively manage a team of QA Engineers both locally and remote.
- Support our bi-weekly product development releases by increasing the QA automation coverage.
- Provide leadership in implementing processes that result in improved quality throughout the entire application development lifecycle.
- Provide leadership in implementing services within the QA organization that include black-box testing, white-box testing, automation, load and performance testing that can contribute substantially to the overall quality of the Elance experience.
- Works closely with peers in the product management and development organizations to continually improve the quality & usability of components through an agile development process.
- Manage and track each release from PRD specification to Development, integration and QA to ensure predictability of the release lifecycle.
Qualifications/Experience
- Experience in managing QA processes for SaaS/Web 2.0 commercial websites.
- Experience managing QA teams in an agile environment with short by-weekly release cycles.
- Must have managed local and remote QA teams (distributed QA).
- Must have successfully championed and executed process improvement projects that resulted in higher efficiency and increased quality.
- Experience in testing complex SaaS commercial application with multiple third-party integration points including Billing, Payment, Identity Verification, Security.
- Experience in testing multiple browsers, browser plug-ins, APIs and PC/Mac based applications. Experience in testing mobile application (iPhone/Android) is a plus.
- Ability to take initiative, operate independently and drive change.
- Specific QA experience:
- 10+ years of experience in QA with the last 4 years in a SaaS/Web 2.0 commercial website environments.
- 3+ years experience as a Sr. QA Manager. Experience as QA Director is a plus.
- A demonstrated QA career with increasing project complexity and responsibilities (from QA Eng to Sr. QA Eng to QA Manager to Sr. QA Manager).
- Extensive QA automation experience using frameworks like Selenium.
- Must be able to navigate an Oracle DB using standard industry tools. Familiarity with PHP, Javascript and AJAX programming is a plus.
- Must have the desire to perform hands-on testing to develop awareness of QA issues.
- Strong project management skills:
- Track record for delivering projects on time.
- Ability to manage multiple parallel releases with distributed teams.
- Ability to work effectively across the entire organization (Product Management, Development, Testing and Operation) to deliver week after week each release on schedule.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with driving changes into organizations:
- Proven success as a change agent for process and quality improvements.
- Significant experience using technology to implement automation, tools and best practices in all phases of testing and developing strategies to improve quality while reducing the cost of testing activities.
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field.
