How do I cancel a project that I posted on Elance?

Scenario 1.

If you have not clicked the 'Choose Bid' button to award your posted project to any service provider, you can cancel the project as follows.  We will inform the service providers of your decision.

1. Log in to the MyElance Main Menu.

If you are not logged in, enter your Elance username and password.

2. Click the ‘Buyer Activity’ > 'My Projects' link on the left navigation menu.

3. Click on the name of the project.

4. Click 'Settings' tab in the right section of the project name.

5. If the bidding period has not ended, click the 'End Bidding Now' button.

6. Next, go back to the Settings tab, and click the 'Cancel Project' button.  You will be asked to enter the reason for canceling the project, so that we can provide some feedback to the service providers who submitted proposals.

Scenario 2.

If you clicked the 'Choose Bid' button to award your project to a specific service provider, but then decided to cancel the project with that provider, follow these steps.

1. Use the Elance private message board (PMB), and provide the service provider sufficient notice regarding your cancellation.

2. Pay the service provider for any completed work per your contracted terms with your provider.

3.  Ask your service provider to submit a ‘Fee Adjustment Request’ form on their MyElance screen.

4. Your service provider will notify Elance of the project cancellation by using that Fee Adjustment Form.  Our billing department will email you to confirm that you cancelled the project and adjust any fees charged to the service provider based on their original bid price.
