What if I don't get paid for a project?

Elance recommends that service providers click on 'Elance Escrow' as their payment method when placing bids.  Buyers would then need to review a service provider's business terms and contract, then place their funds in an escrow account that is visible to the service provider prior to starting work on a project.

If Elance Escrow is not utilized and a project does not go forward or the terms of the project change, or a buyer does not reply to or pay their service provider, service providers should fill out the 'Request Fee Adjustment' form.

1. Login to the My Elance Main Menu.

If you are not logged in, enter your Elance username and password.

2. Click on the Provider Activity link in the left menu column.

3. Click on the Accepted Projects tab.

4. Click on the 'Request Fee Adjustment' link in the 'Next Steps' column.

The Elance Billing & Payment Team will try to contact the buyer to confirm the project status.  If the buyer confirms, or does not reply to Elance, the project fee will be refunded to the service provider.

Always upload your contract terms and conditions document files to the PMB.  Make sure they include both parties business names, addresses, and phone numbers.  Negotiate the payment terms and detailed Statement of Work (SOW) BEFORE clicking on the 'accept project' link and begin working.
