How do I cancel or downgrade my current membership?

As an alternative to service provider membership cancellation, Elance offers the option of downgrading to any lower membership, including our free Basic Plan.  The free Basic Plan will maintain a provider profile in our directory of service providers and allow a minimum number of Connects. Service providers will be offered this option when canceling their membership.

If you have more than one category in your membership plan, you will need to select one category to keep since our free Basic Plans only allow for one category.  Your feedback and project history of the categories you removed will be kept by Elance for a period of time and you can retrieve them by adding those categories back to your plan in the future.  You can also downgrade your membership's Connects bundle, remove categories enrolled in the Premiere Program, or remove 1 or more categories.

To cancel or downgrade a service provider membership:

1. Log in to the MyElance Main Menu.

If you are not logged in, enter your Elance username and password.

2. Click on the 'My Acccount'  >  Membership Status link.

3. Click on the 'Edit Membership Plan' link.

4. Click the radio button above the plan you wish to downgrade to, or click the ‘Cancel Membership’ link to the right, if you wish to cancel.  Remember, you can always downgrade to the free Basic Plan to continue enjoying benefits. Follow the prompts, which will give you all of the options available to your specific membership.

Memberships must be cancelled or downgraded at least one day before the next billing date to avoid being automatically charged for the next membership period.

Service providers can cancel at any time during their membership period, and the effective cancellation date is the next billing date.  A service provider can continue submitting proposals until that next billing date.

There are no refunds for membership periods you have already paid for, and memberships automatically renew on the next billing date unless cancelled at least one day before the next billing date.
