Motion Graphics Expert Finds Great Success on Elance

Meet Abbas Ali Khan, a talented Elance provider and motion graphics expert. Abbas shares his thoughts on the boom in the motion graphics industry, and the success he’s experienced by working on Elance.

Abbas has a background in static graphics design, but was always interested in animation. It was a natural transition for him to move into motion graphics. He believes that like any other form of art, animation is a great way to express your feelings and ideas. “I’ve had 15 years of experience working in design and animation. I believe that where a picture is worth a thousand words, animation is worth a thousand pictures,” he said.

“With the growing trend of web videos, the Motion Graphics industry is really booming. Everyone is looking for a great animated intro or a logo animation for their web video or website. There are also many companies that take part in trade shows and want a great video to play on the big LCD screen. Again, motion graphics come into play.”

Abbas wanted to be part of this new graphics trend, and put a budding music career on hold to act on it. “I was looking for a business model where I could work on projects of my choice and according to my availability. I was ready to work with people from all around the world,” Abbas said.

Enter Elance. “My wife told me about Elance and I instantly registered,” Abbas said. “I got my first project in the first week, and since then I’ve had a continuous stream of design and multimedia projects to work on.”

“After only four months, I have worked on over 40 projects and made more than $10,000 dollars, which is a great start! I’ve also worked my way to being the top provider in the motion graphics and after effects category.”

Here are a couple tips from Abbas to get new providers going:

Don’t sell yourself short.
My bids are always among the high bidders. I am confident that my work is worth the price I’m quoting - and you should be too.

Don’t be a salesperson.
Instead, be helpful and offer your potential clients solutions. Try to educate them about the project and give them ideas on how to make it successful.

We've worked with many providers on Elance and I must admit that Abbas was probably one of the best providers we've ever worked with. For one project I worked with Abbas and a local high priced firm and Abbas blew them away. Unlike many foreign providers he really has a better understanding of what you're looking for and the caliber of work is unbeatable.

Good luck Abbas, but you won't need much luck Smile

great work man.
very impressed to see good talent.
keep up the good work.

I enjoyed reading your history. I too am a graphics artist interested in
getting more and more into animation and motion graphics. So far I have only done
some gif files and a few flash animations, partly because I didn't have
the time to devote to learning more. I plan to from now on.
