My name is Michael Vaughn and I design Wordpress themes and websites from my design studio in southern California.

I originally began my career in the print industry more years ago than I care to admit (yes, I learned design before the Mac - using rapidograph pens, t-squares, x-acto knifes, and rubylith). With the advent of the personal computer I eventually gravitated toward the tech industry where I have been employed for the last twenty years.

In that time I have held several positions in information technology including operations, management, and support with six years spent working for the University of Advancing Technology in Phoenix and most recently four and half years at Chapman University in southern California. I have also spent my fair share of time with start-ups and small business.

I never lost my ties with my design roots and have always done something in that capacity over the years for friends, family and small business. Like most designers I embraced the beginnings of the web in 1995 but never took much of a design interest in it because of the lack of precise layout - tables, spacer gifs, what?

That all changed two years ago when I decided to look into CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and web standards more closely. With CSS I found the design control that I was looking for and discovered a renewed interest in web design.
