I started in accounting right out of high school. My grandmother was a bookkeeper for 30 years with the same flower shop and trained me to be her replacement. After times became tough for the Flower shop, I continued in the accounts receivable field for about 10 working in the entertainment, oil and HVAC fields. I was promoted to a newly created position called a return merchandise Auditor because I had excelled in cleaning the aging and returns were a big issue. In another job, I was hired from temp and then promoted 6 months later to AR supervisor where I assisted the AR Manager and oversaw 3 employees and worked with field offices to get billing turned in and posted. I billed for several divisions and was a large part of AR close for those field sites as well as the site I was at. Closing other divisions. I handled collections and brought in payments for invoices that would be written off and well as bought in millions of on time payments. I love the accounting field!
