I am a full-charge bookkeeper of a restaurant and bar in downtown Jersey City and a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor doing the books of several small businesses. I am also an accounting and computer teacher in a private school in Bayonne. I have helped my clients clean up their A/P, reconciling each vendor's bills and credits, and generating a clean A/P Aging summary. At the same time, using Excel, I monitored cash flow on a daily basis, reconciling the POS numbers, with the merchant account numbers, and finally with the bank numbers. I analyzed a client's present payroll system and suggested to move everything to another payroll provider, saving the client half of what they annually paid. In Excel, I monitored the hours each employee spent everyday and essentially integrated all the information for payroll into one Excel file. Instead of having three to four people helping with the payroll, I reduced it to one.
