I received my first computer when I was 14, It was an Atari 400 and it came with 2 cartridges. One of them was called basic, I would stop a game and list the program, change things around to see what happened and in less than a year I had taught myself basic. In High school and Vo-Tech I always got an A+ in computer class and was placed in 1985's who's who in American Students for computers. I completed another computer school for programming in RPGII and was offered employment immediately but I was only 19 and the jobs were far and in dangerous cities so I got a local job as a computer operator on an IBM System36. I did all the invoicing, monthly statements, payroll, bank deposits, answered the phone because the person who was supposed to do that was terrible, If someone called to ask what time it was she would transfer it to me anyway. After that I kind of fell into desktop support, help desk or IT, which ever you want to call it.
