Although I have been writing "for fun" for most of my life, this is the first time I have been able to make it my "job" by dedicating the better part of each day to the process. Ironically, this is the first time I feel confident enough in my ability as a writer (and my resolve not to implode as I start to collect all the rejection letters) to submit my work. Other than my stint as a town reporter for a weekly newspaper, I have not yet felt the euphoria of seeing my own by-line in print or received any monetary compensation for my efforts. The work in progress currently filling my writing day is a romantic comedy novel set in the Mystic/Groton, CT area. I am just about half-way through the first draft.
