Twenty years ago I was diagnosed with a rare intestinal disease. My stomach was removed and a feeding tube placed in my jejunal tract. I was subsequently put on numerous medications and had to start tube feeding 24-7. At times I was placed on vein feedings, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for times when the tube feedings would not suffice. The doctors always believed my disease, small bowel dysmotility, was secondary to an autoimmune disease, connective tissue disease. Which is rearing its ugly head more frequently as I grow older.
