Hi, I'm available to work as a content writer and as a typist. I have experience with creative non-fiction and fiction writing as well as with writing from an outline.
My basic skills are in creative and non-professional writing. I can edit and write stories of fictional and/or non fictional basis and I can write "fun" articles that do not require much fact-checking, basically blogs and pieces of that liking. I am very dedicated and time-efficient and I work well to adapt to others needs and desires.
I am a dedicated worker with a love of the English language. I love writing and reading (fiction & non fiction, current affairs), I am a proficient typist, I have managed my own correspondence throughout my 20 year career. I am meticulous in my general approach to my duties, my work has covered contract work (legal contracts) general business correspondence, reports, figure work (budgets, spreadsheets etc). A hobby and love of languages combine when I copytype newspaper articles in languages such as German, Swedish and French which I attempt translating into English, the results can be interesting!
If you know what you want to say, but the words elude you, I can create content for you. I have experience in writing web content, sales and marketing materials, non-fiction articles, poetry, and recipes. My past work encompasses a broad range of topics and styles, from culinary history, entertainment top tens, landscaping guides and much more.
I have a BA (May 2010) and MA (May 2013) in English from the University of Arkansas. In June 2011, I presented a paper at the Southern Writers/Southern Writing Conference and received an award for outstanding critical work. As a graduate student, I taught Composition I, Composition II, and am currently teaching a special topics version of Composition II on humor in short stories, stand-up, and sitcoms. I'm also currently employed with UA's Upward Bound program as a Composition instructor, helping rising high school seniors write essays for various scholarships; several of my students have received partial or full scholarships for college from these essays. I'm proficient in the technical aspects of writing (revising, editing, and logical organization), and I have a keen eye for incongruities with content regarding coherence, cohesion, concision, and smooth transitions from one idea to the next as well as one paragraph to the next.
I have an expansive post-secondary education and an equally expansive and diverse set of interests. Textbooks and short articles aside, I have read in excess of 150 full-length works, including many genres of fiction, both classical and modern, as well as non-fiction works on philosophy, religion and spirituality (Eastern and Western), psychology, history, political theory, and economics. I also keep reasonably good track of current events and college sports and am comfortably familiar with multiple genres of movies both contemporary and old (from the mid-1930s onward). My creative side is balanced out with a good working knowledge of basic computer programs, a typing speed that averages 60 wpm and peaks around 90 wpm, and some familiarity with mathematics (including statistics and calculus), human biology, and American law and legal procedure. I enjoy researching foreign cultures. In short, I have a body of knowledge and wisdom that is adaptable to all sorts of writing projects.

It's been a personal goal of mine to write a novel, and I'm currently working on one. Most of my writing has been for myself, about things I thought were interesting. If you are looking for a multifaceted writer who is able to utilize the 1,009,614 words in the English language to create the most clear, straightforward, and attention-grabbing piece for your business, you have come to the right place. As the famous saying goes, "the pen is mightier than the sword." I fully understand that the right selection of clear and powerful words that convey the desired message will yield far greater results than a combination of weak and vague words. Because of that, I pay special attention to my work, and I do not give up until I am sure the piece is void of dead weight, leaving only strong and influential words for the readers to see and absorb. Through the careful crafting of words, I will deliver excellent results in a timely manner.

As a professional, the majority of my writing has been a function of my sales experience. As the internet manager of a car dealership, my sales copy was one element responsible for bringing the close rate of that department from below the national average to double it. A sales letter I wrote for a local hearing aid dispensary preceded the two most profitable months of its operation, with a nearly 30% increase in total revenue over previous months. As a creative writer, I've won several local awards for non-fiction prose and poetry. Writing is my passion, sales is my gift, and copy writing is the intersection of those two paths. My rates are affordable because I recognize the need to become more established in the online sector, so take advantage now before they go up!

I have years of experience in professional sales and use the understanding of sales I gained as a sales executive to my advantage. I have since written sales letters, copy, direct response materials, sales emails, sales brochures, sales scripts, and pitches for the last few years. Many of my pieces are still at work for companies in the US, Autralia, China, Canada, and the UK. I have written for clients and audiences around the world, and can adapt my style to best fit most any audience. In addition to sales writing, I have written SEO content, creative non-fiction, fiction, newspaper and magazine articles, blog entries, and product descriptions for a variety of clients. My work is well drafted, researched, and thought out. I work to understand the needs of my clients, and then produce the product that best meets their needs. Let me put my process to work for you!
We are identical 27-year-old twins who both have a Master's degree in History, a Double Honours degree in English and History, and a Minor degree in French Language. As graduate students we were Teaching Assistants whose responsibilities included running tutorials and marking exams and essays for first-year history students. The following year we marked essays for a former professor of ours, and this same professor was impressed enough with our work to ask if we could help edit her own writing after her year on sabbatical. By May of 2011 we plan to have published a non-fiction book of our own, the subject of which is our unique twinship and our twin struggles with depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. The two of us work as an effective pair not only in our writing and proofreading, but also in our drawing and painting. We explain more about ourselves and showcase our collaborative artwork on our website (www.lauralart.net).
