Since graduating from Columbia University in 2006, I've worked in editorial positions at several magazines. Though I left the publishing industry to focus on writing a novel, I currently do freelance editing work and academic tutoring to support myself, and as such, I have maintained a keen eye for annotating. My primary area of expertise is editing, and I have experience with diverse types of copy, including fiction, non-fiction, business proposals, resumes, cover letters, college essays, and general application essays. I do copyediting (grammar, punctuation) as well as more general editing (style, tone, word choice, streamlining). I'm able to discern the intent behind a piece of writing and help it achieve the message or story that's being expressed. I can write copy for businesses and websites depending on the needs of the project. Additionally, I have experience in screenwriting and am proficient in editing scripts for both language and story.

A few words about who I am I am a fledgling in the field of SEO content writing. Introduced to it by a stranger, I have been writing content that is not for publishing for a little over two months now. It is not simply a matter of earning something extra to me, but rather an opportunity to develop my writing skills. As a result I have raptly started to gobble whole chunks of fiction and non-fiction. Reading Harper's, the Economist, WSJ, novels and essays is on my daily agenda. I strive to explore new texts with rapture and derive great pleasure from learning synonyms and finding out about words' subtle differences in meaning. Literature has always been the lodestar of my life, but I have never ventured to write. I regard SEO writing as an opportunity to hone my skills and overcome the fear of you-don't-have-anything-worth-saying. Currently I am a student in Applied Linguistics and the languages I specialise in are French and Spanish.

I write to connect with people. I write to create something from nothing. I've always been fascinated by the power of precisely placed words to change the hearts and minds of those who read them. Writing should get things done. Whether the project is glamorous, or as mundane as the instructions on a box of toothpicks (that was the easiest 50 bucks I've ever made), it's exhilarating to me. Technical writing should be concise, accurate, and direct. But it can also be visual. Persuasive writing should evoke emotion. But it can also promote thought...as long as they're thinking about what we want them to, right? Creative writing- well all writing is creative, so I'll let you finish this sentence... You don't need a freelancer because you're a horrible writer. You just don't have the time to do it yourself. My job as a writer is to reach out through my keyboard and touch your readers however you want them to be touched. Introduce me to your audience...

Good day to you. My name is Brady Rhoades. I've worked as an editor for the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group and other publications. I'm also a widely published non-fiction and fiction writer. Following are three other attributes: 1) I'm driven, in any editing process on which I embark, to contribute to a finished product that is well written, informative, entertaining and error free; 2) I believe in collaboration. Any writing process involves a writer and editor -- and often others -- working as a team toward a common goal; 3) I'm versatile and honest. As a newspaper and website editor, I have edited thousands of stories about thousands of topics. But ... if the content is beyond my reach or interest, I'm not in the business of fakery. I'll let you know that I'm not right for this project.

Please excuse my overly-aggressive tagline, it's just that commonly used generic slogans like "I'm but a simple slave to the Muse" drive me to the edge. Hi!
