Two examples: composing an administrator-requested letter of explanation which salvaged an undergraduate student's scholarship (preceded by a conversational "interview" with the benefactor); and winning the speech portion of a scholarship pageant, over many other contestants, by orating my original writing addressing the given topic, while also being the only one to deliver from memory (sans the paper or note cards). If a project needs information, I do my due diligence to search it out. Finding information is partly a matter of using the correct phraseology during the search.
