I have been fortunate enough to complete a screenplay. It took approximately nine months. And, to be honest, I was only responsible for the revision and final edit, not the original rough draft. Personally, I believe novels and screenplays have a different kind of sensation to them than I normally feel when I'm writing a poem. For instance, poems and other formal documents are relatively short, so they can be completed with an all out flurry of emotion. However, novels and screenplays don't have a clear finish line to strive for. Or, at least, it isn't one that I could easily recognize until the project was pretty much done. So, my finish line became a daily writing schedule of 4-6 hours, and striving to reach a specific page number in the document. In time, page numbers became completed scenes, and difficult scenes became gratifying moments of accomplishment. Slowly, those awkward bits of dialogue became smoothed out and began to fit. And, finally, it was completed.
