I graduated from the University of South Carolina with Honors from the South Carolina Honors College in May 2012 with a BA in History and English and am currently an English Ph.D. student at The Ohio State University. In addition to my personal pursuits I have assisted in historical research, collaborated with other academics, and I have experience in proofreading. I can read, speak, write, and perform translations in several languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Latin, Icelandic, Anglo-Saxon) and have performed these functions in a professional capacity while working for English Programs for Internationals at the University of South Carolina. I have experience working with low-level English speakers. At EPI I was also responsible for creating the weekly newsletter for our students and can write documents so that they can be clearly understood by non-native speakers.
Writing has been an important part of my life. I graduated college with a BA in English with a focus on creative writing. As I'm sure with most people, my career path after college has seen many changes. My most significant work experience was the nine years I spent working in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. This work probably represented the greatest contribution to my writing skills. My job exposed me to a wide variety of writing styles. The majority of my work centered on writing speeches, letters, memos, reports, press releases, website content, and legislative language as part of bills that were enacted into law. More importantly, I learned how to communicate with many different groups on several different levels. In addition to writing, I am interested in information technology (IT), and am currently seeking certifications and Masters' in both Information Security and Cyber Security.
