After earning my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in the science fields, I obtained a teaching credential and taught middle school students. Since then, I have homeschooled my six children and have proofread for fun. I would like to take my proofreading hobby to the next level and freelance to those who need my skills. To me, being a natural-born proofreader is both a gift and a curse: I see grammatical errors in most of the books I read, be they textbooks, classics or children's fiction. I see them in Sunday sermon notes and websites. I have an eye for them. I would like to help people and companies look more professional by polishing up their written materials.

To keep a long story short, I think too much, I can't stand being idle, I love to laugh, I must solve puzzles, I enjoy making what I see in my head appear on my screen, I'm fluid in my preference of music, I can work a computer like nobody's business, I won't stay at my computer all day, I'm curious, I'm determined to make you laugh, I have a fondness for the color blue, I play a ukulele because my brain found 4 strings more intuitive than 6, I have a set of fictional stories I'm too much of a perfectionist about to get from my brain to the printed page, I can do and teach math with much joy, and I'm a picky editor who will yell at you in my head but will make sure you get it right with a smile. In other words (or rather, a completely different thought), I like a challenge, a puzzle that's seemingly unsolvable, so give me what you've got. :)

As a practicing physician who reads and edits fiction purely for pleasure, I can offer a unique market perspective. As far as professional qualifications, I do not have a degree in English. I received a perfect score on the language portion of college entrance exams, but decided to make my living in the healthcare field. Instead, I have preserved my love of the written language by relegating it to my leisure hours. Since 2012 I have stopped working full time so that I could return to my neglected love of books. Let me help you deliver your literary offspring. I specialize in SciFi, Fantasy (no vampire stuff please) and mystery. I also independently consult for medical details for your plot on an hourly basis.

I absolutely love a good read! Particularly romantic fiction of the many different decades because there's always something to learn. I'm also a stickler about the English language; Authors aim to write exactly what they mean on paper in order to paint identical images in the minds of their audience as at the moment they conceived their ideas. Reading was a great help to my development during my adolescence and continues to be a great joy in my life.
