“Rami is a very nice man. He is personable and his communication via video conferencing was enjoyable. In the beginning, he seemed to understand my requirements, the schedule and my needs. Unfortunately, due to reasons that are not clear to me, the initial enthusiasm quickly waned and I was presented with emails not answered/emails answered a week later, revisions not made, and poor quality work.
On his response time, Rami accepted the project knowing that the schedule would be fast paced. I ended up reducing deliverables on my end and also doing some of the work myself in order to finish the drawings which he couldn't finish. The design schedule ended up being more than twice as long and the project is still incomplete.
On his quality of work, the renderings were OK. The technical drawings, however, showed a lack of understanding about architectural drawing in general - Discrepancies between plan and elevation, zero priority in line weight management, poor attention to detail. I am dissatisfied with the work done and have had to rework the drawings myself. I do not mind others using their own standards, but Rami's work, lacked standards in general.
I was hoping to develop a long standing relationship with Rami in order to pursue other projects in the Middle East region. Unfortunately, due to his response time and quality of work on this project, it has cost me my relationship with my client, and I will not be working with Rami again. Buyer beware.
"We always thought that the Elance is a great space where "good design" is at the reach of everyone, but also it's a space where each designer can have the opportunity to express himself freely on projects they can choose, for us this could revolutionize the design world, and merge new talented designers and trends all over the world"
To come back to our project, we think it isn't fair to post this bad publicity for our work, Taking into account that we did more than 33 successful projects on elance in the past 9 months with more than 16 clients, 40% repeated projects (half of our clients aren't in the construction industry) and he is the only unsatisfied client. Therefore we all know by now where the problem lies.
If you check our history you will see that we are well known in Elance for our speed and accuracy, follow up, and response to the projects we did, many of them were in rush dead line.
As far as I know Mr. Coulomb Chang who is also a freelance active contractor on Elance, he is not in a position to juge our quality of work (conflict of interest) knowing that our role in the project was bigger than just doing rendering or drafting in the correct line weight, like he is pretending in fact we designed the majority of the store,( external elevation - back of the store gelato laboratory)
I wonder if he did really design the projects in his portfolio or he just gave it to other architects to design it for him...
For the quality of work, we followed examples that Mr Chang send to us as reference, since no cad standard were send by him, neither pen assignment, but it was always to light or too dark for him knowing that it was based on his own work and style (bizarre no?).
As for the schedule and scope, from the beginning of the project we wanted to set a clear schedule and list of drawings for the project but never succeeded to do so till the end of the project, after we delivered to him 15 A1 drawings and 9 divisions of specs in english and arabic, 3 or 4 revised renderings, when we asked him for a payment after 2 months of work, he changed the terms of the contract and terminated the project in a weird way!!
I think the problem of Mr. Chang is he sunk into the details of the external elevation (usually it”
