“3 revisions were needed (with the last one taking over 1 week to get a response from provider). From that point, I simply gave up.
After I cleaned the guide, and corrected grammar I was down from 5200-ish words to 3600-ish words.
Here are a couple examples:
"Chop the chives that one is going to use but remember to not chop the stalks that they are not going to use."
"Too many people cut the chives early or in the wrong way. They cut them from the bottom of the plant. This is the wrong way to cut the chives. Instead of cutting from the bottom one should just cut from the top down. It is a great idea to only cut from the top of the plant and to only cut what is going to be harvested."
Notice the heavy repeating just to inflate the word count.
Provider might be best suited for shorter articles (300-400 words) that don't need much research.”
“If client had stated that they were unhappy prior to payment I would not have expected payment.
Honestly felt over my head with this one as there was very little information on how to grow chives through numerous research sources. Obviously a topic that I would not tackle in the future.
As for the lack of communication, my grandfather underwent heart surgery suddenly. This took me out of town and while shocking he does not have an Internet connection and I do not have a cell phone. I simply forgot to grab my iPad on the way out the door and did not have a way to communicate until I got home. I did explain all of this to the client and why I hadn't seen their final revision request.”
