Iím Geoff Roy, and I live in Fleet, Hampshire with my wife and young family. Iím probably about halfway through my life (fingers crossed), and absolutely passionate about search engine optimisation (SEO) and what it can achieve. This passion for SEO comes from seeing the benefits with my own eyes.
In 1999, I moved to Valencia in Spain for a new life, learn Spanish, teach English and escape the corporate job I didnít want to do any longer. Friends started coming over to Barcelona on stag weekends, and asking me to book hotels, restaurants, footy tickets, all sorts! So in 2001, I built a website called Senor Stag (still going today), and decided that Google was where Iíd get my business from.
The business turned over £31,000 in itís first year on the back of 13 stag groups. 6 years later, the business was turning over £760,000 and had 8 full time staff and numerous part-time guides. And the majority of this solid growth came from using SEO techniques to bring people from Google to the website, and then getting those visitors to contact the sales team by email or on the phone.
That business went kaput in 2009 due to a lethal combination of the recession and sterling devaluing against the euro Ė I had to put prices up 30% just when punters were looking for value-for-money.
So I now work with a number of clients doing what I love doing Ė using SEO to grow traffic to their websites, and turn those visitors into enquiries and warm leads. The world of SEO changes very regularly, but in some ways, the fundamentals havenít changed that much.
If you have any SEO questions, or have a website niggle you want scratching, Iíd love to hear from you.
