“I discussed with the CEO of EmergentSoft the matter of negative but fair feedback but received little reaction (apart from this was now in the hands of their legal department) and certainly no attempt to resolve the issues I had.
This project was "completion" of a website (clue is in the title) yet the website remains Non-functional and there are numerous problems outstanding. I was informed that the project manager who commenced the project left the firm and the CEO will claim that greater items were completed than specified. I argue this point as I scaled down elements and the project manager was aware of the nature of work when he quoted the lump sum price for the project. In any case, the fundamentals of the site are lacking in many instances.
My experience has been the following:
1/ Good communication through process
2/ Skill is of decent standard although front end is rustic
3/ Project Management is poor. I spent hours and numerous days testing the site at stages as work progressed which the developers never did so they would never point out any flaws themselves. There is no view of the "bigger picture".
4/ For some reason many items which were fixed, later became undone?! I would then have to respecify. I can only put this down to different teams working on the project and again poor overall management.
5/ Towards the end it became increasingly frustrating as items I noted as outstanding (made through hours of testing) were marked by the developers are complete when they clearly were not.
In conclusion, I am left with an incomplete website, have paid in full and received no support or offer to complete (either to honour contract or seeking additional cost).
I feel EmergentSoft are a skilled company whose strengths perhaps lie with undertaking small focused tasks but not larger tasks requiring initiative and greater levels of co-ordinaton.
I would not use the company again.
“Nelly, has already worked with two providers on same project, failed with them and reached to us “ as third provider”. As we have not developed this site so we told him, very clearly that his site is poorly structured, has lot of issues, incomplete parts and need restricting rather than bug fixing / fire fighting. But he insisted to fix the provided list of bugs ONLY as his budget was very low. After completing list of committed list of issues. He tested site again and came up with another list of issues that was not part of committed scope. We even fixed those issues to oblige client but this proved to be never ending story. We reminded him the original commitment and he threatened to leave negative feedback (which he did) OR we keep fixing all bugs until site is completed, that was never possible but no issues, we justify ourselves at least.
Moreover he filed a dispute on elance as well that he lost right away and as a revenge he left the negative feedback, that was only thing he can do. He said very good things about us (thanks) but lied about scope of committed work.
This project was started on “Job Start Date Apr 20, 2012” and even working till Dec 24, 2012 client wish list was not stopped (as he always came with new points, even additions and changes in flow). We finally decided to convince him to stop somewhere and realize the volume of work but no luck.
I wish, forth provider don’t face the same experience as we three provided faced.
Please be careful…!!!
To design and build a hybrid property website. The functionality will be a clone of Rightmove.co.uk (excluding the house price section) but specifically geared towards India. The homepage should have a search selectable map of India and its regions which highlight and expand just like: [obscured] /property/England.html
