“I don't continue relationships with clients who "would definitely use again" who then deny me 5-star (or at minimum 4.8 star) ratings. It's too devastating to the health and well-being of my overall reputation (and pocketbook).
Bottom Line: When I do a great job, I expect great ratings. Ratings are the key to freelancers' bread and butter. We can't put "would definitely use again" on our tables or toward our mortgages. 5-star ratings attract clients who want the best result and are willing to pay for it. Lower ratings aren't helpful because they seem to indicate some kind of failure on our part...which is rarely the case unless the words that accompany the rating explain why the lower rating.”
“This client''s star ratings don''t always adequately reflect her written satisfaction rate (e.g., "will definitely use again!" with a smiley face following it) . If you live and die by your reputation and 5-star ratings here on Elance, this is important information to know. ”
