I have a Python application that collects web data.
I need to make a bunch of reports and I would like to use the Jasper Reports engine due to its great options, community support, and iReport with which I can design reports.
I have to be able to generate the reports on my web server, from a MySQL database, then make them available for download (PDF, most often).
I have some example programs for Ruby on Rails, as well as for Python and Django, in which the application is written, so I don't think hooking up to the Jasper server is going to be a big deal, assuming it's set up correctly.
What I'm looking for is some help automating the setup of Tomcat to serve Jasper Reports in such a way that I can access it at, say, localhost:5000 using the approach used in the code samples included below.
This setup must be completely automated with either Python, using Fabric, or plain bash scripts that I can run on a fresh server, and end up with a fully working Tomcat/Jasper Reports ...
