I am using adobe illustrator to print scales for hydrometers. The hydrometer manufacturing process is semi-automated. As the hydrometers are being manufactured they are measured by a laser micrometer and the data is input into excel. A VBA macro in Excel calculates what the scale length needs to be. I would like a script that would take the information output from excel and use that in adobe illustrator. Say I can fit 10 scales on a sheet of 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. With the correct file already open in adobe, the script would take the standard length scale, copy and paste it somewhere else, and scale it up or down vertically. Once 10 scale sizes were input, the 10 scales would be printed and erased. If the operator wants to print at any time before 10 scales there would be a command to do so. I would also like it to increase the serial number on the scale by one for every input.
