I work with a company based in Japan and their US branch in the Chicago area. At the end of our 2011 fiscal year, there were a lot of questions about year end documents for the US company due to a product claim that was in dispute between the Japan and US companies. I have attended 3 meetings with the board this year and each meeting is full of controversy when trying to understand the US financial documents. I have prepared documents in advance, per the boards request, which includes BS, Cashflow, P&L, General Ledger, etc.. Each meeting there are questions and controversy. For example, "Are these the fixed final monthly numbers?" "Why are returns better this year when last year's results were so bad?" I would like to work with a competent accountant, with experience in Japanese accounting, to review our company documents to provide a clear explanation to the board.
