We currently have an Asterisk system (FreePBX 188.8.131.52, Asterisk v 1.4.18) running on an old computer.
There are no analog telephony connections – just one SIP and one IAX trunk, some SIP softphones and some chan-sccp-b connected Cisco handsets.

This computer is proving unreliable (it won’t consistently reconnect to the network on reboot).
As the rest of our infrastructure is virtualized on to Hyper-V hosts, we want to also virtualize this Asterisk server.
As the current kernel does not support virtualization, the existing system must be moved to a suitable kernel, then virtualized.
The job therefore is as follows:
1. Identify a suitable kernel/linux version for virtualization and demonstrate to us that it is the correct one by citing third party sources.
