We have a scientific application that we would like ported to AWS. It is currently designed to run on a Linux cluster, using either Sun Grid Engine for job distribution or a homegrown client-server system roughly akin to SETI@HOME in design (client daemons contact a server process asking for work units).
The application consists of a Mysql database linked to additional data in flat files, and a set of 32-bit Linux binaries and Perl scripts to run complex and CPU-intensive searches against that data. It has a web-based front end written in Perl. There is a relatively simple install script.
We require a developer with experience with Amazon Web Services to create an EC2 image hosting the application, plus another image to act as the "client".
