I would like a actual working PHYSICAL model of a small mechanical clip valve that pinches a compressible closed fluid conduit with water running through the conduit with a electrical pump. It is intended to be applied to human blood vessels so the scale is small. Multiple clips, similar to a clothespin, are placed along the conduit and pinch the tubing without obstructing flow so long as the fluid pressure remains high (80mm Hg). Once. there is a sudden drop in pressure in the tubing (from a leak), the clips will automatically close and remain shut thereby preventing further leakage. There should also be a second relief circuit so that when the clips are closed water has an alternative pathway to travel. This prototype is based on US Patent 6179850 and is a working demonstration of the concept. I have attached the patent and here is a link http://www.google.com/patents/US6179850 The final deliverable includes the working demonstration as well as all intellectual property rights related to this project. The working demonstration needs to be delivered to US zip code 95628. The demonstration should include a working model with a pump, water circulating through tubing, a valve to simulate a sudden leak in the circuit, and the actual clips which are automatically actuated with a drop in pressure to close the leak in the circuit just before the location of the valve. Although the scale of the actual clip is small, the model may be scaled up with the tubing up to 10mm in inner diameter. The tubing has to be compressible (thereby simulating the compressibility of human blood vessels). The prototype clips function by compressing (pinching) the tubing by being placed around the outer surface of the tubing. The system will have a locking mechanism so that one it chokes the flow it cannot open again unless manually opened. There is enough capacitance in the circuit that the pressure in the rest of the circuit will not rise appreciably with flow this diverted.
