I need ideas on developing a profit sharing bonus plan for key employees of a 30 store restaurant chain. This will not be a qualified plan nor will it be a form of deferred compensation. Most probably it will be current compensation paid once per year. I am looking to put together a plan with as much flexibility as I can with as much discrimination among key employees as possible. It will reward key employees meeting specific criteria such as increased production in areas under their control.

I would welcome a report by anyone who has tackled this subject previously, and I would also be interested in information that is available on this subject specifically in the restaurant business.

I am not asking for the design of a plan as much as I would like to see examples of cash bonus plan formulas and designs being used now in the restaurant and related businesses. A "broad brush" report would be useful, but specific examples, formulas and ideas would be most helpful. Original r...
