This project is a re-post of the MATLAB part only of the project "Development of Solar Energy Technical Assessment Tool" with substantial reduction in scope.
We will focus on examining the utilisation of an Organic Rankine Cycle heat engine for conversion of solar thermal energy into electricity. We wish to evaluate alternate designs of commercially available systems and a simulation tool is required for this purpose.
This project is to prepare the simulation tool based on the mathematical models and parameters recently detailed in the attached paper (Quoilin, "Performance and Design Optimisation of a Low-cost Solar Organic Rankine Cycle for Remote Power Generation", 2011). This tool will be formulated in a generalised systems framework so as to facilitate future variation and addition of sub-components (such as alternate solar collectors, thermal storage, regenerator etc).
