The device is a multi-purpose high-speed, high-resolution digital [video / still] camera. This device is designed to become a component in other products from multi-camera security systems to robotics vision systems. The camera takes standard C or CS mount lenses, so no optics.
The device has two hardware components (each is a PCB in a simple case):
#1: "ice-eye camera" - this is a 2.8" x 2.8" x 6-layer PCB with a 2592x1944 image sensor (aptina MT9P401) on the front side and two 50-pin ribbon cable headers on the backside. For practical purposes the signals on the image-sensor IC are buffered by line drivers and receivers and passed to the two 50-pin headers. This PCB sits inside a 3" x 3" x 1" thick aluminum case with C or CS mount threads above the image sensor. Very simple.
#2: "ice-quad controller" - this is a 6" x 6" x 8-layer PCB with 4 pairs of 50-pin ribbon cable headers on the bottom surface around the periphery. This PCB sits inside a 6" x 6" x 2" thick alum...
