***UPDATE: JULY 19: After some discussion with providers, I came to the conclusion that it would be good to render the bag parts on the server side (because image processing on the client side may lead to unpredictable/slow results. So: The colouring and the placement of images/text [w/ resizing/rotation] onto bag parts should be rendered on the server side using PHP or RoR). The final image should be composed of the bag parts as layered images.*** ---- This project is to fix or rewrite an HTML5/CSS3/JS product configurator which another provider created but failed to make runnable adequately on iOS and Android platforms. In general the problem was solved, but unfortunately the solution did not run on iOS (ipad etc.) smoothly while the point of the whole project was to have it working on the desktop AND on mobile devices like the iPad and Android. I've attached the results of the project so far (elance.zip), call the configurator on Chrome/Firefox from projects/BerlinBag/index.php. (Any use or reproduction of this code is prohibited by us.) Also included is the new design of the configurator in design.zip ( bag-designer.html). Please note: I DO NOT WANT to have to talk to 10+ providers in advance. In my experience this takes literally forever and could be handled more effectively via questions/answers. If anything is unclear, please ask and I'll clearify. If you don't have any questions, please give a binding proposal. I WILL KICK OUT ANY PROVIDERS WHO DON'T GIVE A BINDING PROPOSAL WHEN THE QUESTIONING PHASE IS OVER. Here's the original posting on Elance, if you've any questions, feel free to ask. We at berlinbag make customized bags. We already have a (by now quite dated) product configurator written in Flash AS2 on our website which does the following: - takes a configuration file in xml - guides the customer through the configuration process and displays a real-life preview - allows for placement of one or more image onto the bag (with sizing, moving and image rotation) - allows for perspective-based distortion of the image - sends the configuration along with a snapshot of the configured product (as the customer sees it in his browser) to our website As I wrote the configurator is quite dated, but it does its job. To see our current configurator at work, please go to: http://www.berlinbag.com/marketplace/before_customize_product/21 and configure the "berlinbag Shopper 2011" product which is the only one available with multiple images and perspective distortion at the moment. You could use images from the "Motive" area of the website or own images (http://www.berlinbag.com/marketplace/upload_image) to test the image handling of the configurator. Please use your browsers "developers tools" to inspect the input and output data of the configurator. As we think that we need a less vendor-specific version of the configurator in the future, we want a complete rewrite of the configurator in HTML5/CSS3/JS. Requirements: - the configurator should be fed by the same xml configuration file that is used now - it should have the same functionality as the current configurator - it should be based purely on HTML5/CSS/JS and run on all major current browsers of today (July 30, 2011), that is Firefox, Safari (Mac+iPad), IE, Chrome (Mac, Windows, Android) - design should be modular and streamlined (current layout is not must, but design must be fully customizeable via CSS) - additional features: put more than only one image onto each part of the product (configurable), allow for one or more texts to be put onto each part of the product (configurable) - clean, class-based code with basic comments and method-based basic documentation (describe functionality + input + output parameters) - base your js on jquery - job should be finished with 4-8 weeks after the winner has been selected The winner will be provided with the source code of the current AS2 configurator for reference.
