We have a web interface to an external web service using SSL requiring a secure third-party certificate. The request to this web service originates from our server.
The code for the originating web service has been written and tested in IIS and communicates the certificate as expected to the external web service.
When the code is moved over to our server, the same process results in an error message being returned from the remote server (Forbidden 403). This error message indicates that the certificate was not recognized or available to the external web service. The certificate was tested on our server using IE and the installed certificate works fine. IE typically is able to bypass any firewalls or proxies and thus this is a valuable and informative test.
