I'm building a molding tool made from a plate of 6061 aluminum, and I need some help optimizing the mold so that it will produce as many part per hour as possible.
The mold (500 mm X 1m X 60mm thick) will be cored/drilled with heating/cooling channels so that water, steam, or oil can flow through the mold body (see [obscured] /index.php?page=platen%20types%20and%20temperature%20chart&cpage=platens for a visual). Wherever possible, cavities will be drilled into the mold body, but not in the locations of the heating/cooling channels.
I need to populate the mold with as many 25mm holes (cavities), but at the same time heat and cool the mold as quick as possible. In the end, I'm looking for a design that will enable me to make as many parts as possible by optimizing the cavity count, cooling/heating channel layout.
