I need to have the following researched?I have a tiny budget and imagine this is not difficult information to provide.
I am about to launch a website business that I would like to be a not for profit.
I have not registered the company yet as an LLC or Corp. (is filing as an LLC even possible? I understand 501c3 tax status has certain tax incentives and I am unsure if those incentives are available to entities where the income is passed through to the owners, aka cannot retain profits, such as an LLC).
I would like to know, what are the steps for applying to become a not for profit (501c3 tax status)?
Do I need to incorporate first? Then apply for not for profit tax status? Can they be done concurrently?
Additionally, are there any states that are advantageous to register my not for profit?
In your proposal, please provide your estimate cost to complete the project, the time it will take to provide answer and experience if applicable.
