We are developing a glucose meter for people with diabetes. The meter is a small battery-powered device worn by a patient. It samples the patient's blood glucose automatically every 2 minutes.
The microcontroller in the meter is a Microchip PIC24FJ256GA106. The glucose data is logged by the microcontroller in a Microchip SST25VF032B, which is a 32 Mbit SPI Serial Flash.
We would like the meter to be able to send the glucose data to another device (e.g., iPhone 4S, PC, etc.) wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy. We recently fabricated a new meter PC board that now includes the Panasonic PAN1720 Bluetooth Low Energy Module, which is interfaced via UART to the Microchip PIC24. The PAN1720 that we are using is the ENW89820A3KF, which includes the BlueRadios BR-SPP firmware burned into the PAN1720 module.
