We require a LabView application that can take tif/jpeg files and align them so that sub-patterns in the files match. We are basically looking to match images of 'star constellations' onto images of the 'whole sky'. Images have OK quality, but it is not perfect, so the routines need to be robust and need to be able to handle cases where some of the stars are not perfectly visible. Eventually the x-y coordinates of the stars need to be returned and the stars in the smaller image (constellation) need to be identified from their coordinates in the larger image (whole sky, we know the names of the stars in the whole sky images).
Does that make sense?
