We've just setup our new Cloud Hosting using vmware vsphere 5 to run a bunch of VMs but we need a way of monitoring the Internet bandwidth used by each VM so we can report the 95pc quartile usage every month.
We'll looking for a provider who will:
1) Using console access via vsphere client will install Linux into a blank VM which we'll create
2) Secure and lock down the Linux to help prevent hackers getting access (we'll open ports 80 and 443 on the firewall for external web access by clients and so we can pull graphs via our intranet)
3) Install Cacti (or similar) and configure it as needed for say 4 groups of 3 VMs
4) Configure whatever is needed on those other VMs (mostly Windows) so that Cacti can read the bandwidth info (and other other info which may be useful, presumably by SNMP)
It is a NATed network with PIX 5510 firewall at the presentation. We really need to exclude internal network traffic from the reports (i.e. local web servers talking to local SQL servers)
