In January, the FTC expanded it's COPPA (Children's online Privacy Protection Act) to include apps for kids. The law states that app developers are not allowed to collect and share data from kids under the age of 13 without parental consent. This law becomes effective in July.
Rather than wait until July, I want to make it easier for parents and teachers to know which apps are compliant with this law today. I will be asking app developers to take a pledge to that fact. (that their apps are COPPA compliant) and I will post a symbol or logo to this fact next to each app on my website: [obscured]
I need a logo which will symbolize visually and quickly to parents that an app is "safe" for their kids. I believe the words with the design should be: "Kids Privacy Protected!"
