I need someone that has experience in dealing with a frustrating network file sharing problem I have involving Windows Vista Ultimate and Mac OS X 10.4. These two operating systems are infamous with not playing nice with each other as far as SMB network file sharing goes.
I have tried everything to make this and I'm hitting a brick wall. So I need something who is familiar enough with both Windows Vista and Mac OS X 10.4 to help me.
When I try to access my shared Windows folder from my Mac, the shared volume shows up on my Mac desktop when I select "Connect to server..." in the Go menu in Finder and enter in my PC's intranet ip address (smb://192.168.1.100). However when I double click on it to access my PC's shared files, nothing shows up. It's totally blank.
If someone experienced in both operating systems can help me get this working I would greatly appreciate it. Based on the searching I did online, it's a very common problem and a fix isn't very well documented.
