The goal is to take the Java terraforming calculator, available at [obscured] /~mfogg/program2/TerraSim.html and connect it to visual and sound feedback of events, maybe similar to [obscured] /en/simulation/greenhouse but less childish. It needs to show the habitable parts of Mars on the map (as an equatorial band, since it’s by temperature), and also the percent of the habitable surface as a bar.
The variables in the calculator are described in the user guide: [obscured] /~mfogg/program2/user.htm Variables have “realistic ranges” - if the user enters anything beyond it in any variable, the picture should change to the cartoonish sci-fi mode (e.g., green Martians, steampunk sailing spaceships and so on) and the warning “do your research on ___” (with the list of variables beyond the realistic range) should appear.
