I recently moved into a new company with the scheduling in a mess. I work for a construction company that builds modules (contractor)for Energy companies
Updating schedule is hard with p6 rejecting dates most of the time. 3 week look Ahead (excel based) shows different dates from p6. The client always complains that Earnings (labour units earned)are not enough.
What the client want?
1.The client want each project to be completed on time and on budget
2. The labour resources to be utilized judiciously ( no idle time) because they pay for it. No peak and trough ie levelled resources.
3. Timely communication detailing any problem encountered and what needs to be done to mitigate the problem.
The project is building modules with each module or group of modules (depending on how it is awarded) treated as a project in p6. This means that it is a short term project that takes place on an ongoing basis.
