Example image, tiles and non-openGL working Perl code (ImageMagick):   [obscured]  /GPXSyB

Load an existing 8192x4096 pixel jpg image.
Scale down to 4096x2048, 2048x1024, 1024x512 and 512x256 pixel.
Cut the original and the scaled down versions into 512x512 pixel jpg tiles.
512x256 becomes top half of a 512x512 tile. Lower half black.
Name the tiles like in the example and save to folder.

Needs to run on Ubuntu 10.04, 64bit with Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 TI graphics card.
I just installed OpenGL::Image via CPAN and the included teapot example works fine.

Command line wanted:
perl \
doit.pl \
path/to/image.jpg \
Added 25 MAR 2012, 20:00 PM EDT
To be done in Perl openGL probably with OpenGL::Image
