I require an update to an exisiting search function within my website.
The search uses mySQL via a php website.
Currently, the search queries a user input (via the website). The user enters their phone number, from the phone number a lookup occurs and returns a predetermined text response if there is a "match". Similarly if there is "no match" in the database, the text response indicates such. Currently, the lookup is based upon a drop down, and then a numeric entry from the user.
I require the search to be expanded into a two step search function based on the same db table.
1) expand the search from a single three digit search to four digits
2) and then revert back to the exisiting three digit search only if the four digit search returns a false match. This secondary search will only be required if the step (1) returns a false match
