A program management office is being set up to monitor the progress of new initiatives over the five year period for a multi-billion dollar insurance company. Traditional program management office (PMO) tools and practices will be leveraged from within the organization; however, it is recognized that specific PMO disciplines geared towards managing risk in complex, corporate-wide transformative initiatives will need to be further enhanced or developed.
1. Refine the PMO governance structure as it relates to the rest of the organization; this includes creating a ‘constitution’ of decision rights, to be used in risk/issue management and escalation processes.
2. Define the PMO monitoring/tracking/reporting model – tools, templates, processes. Consultant will work with the IT team to deploy an enterprise-wide PMO tool. EPM Live is the tool of choice for this effort (leveraging the currently deployed Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007). This w...
